Leading a Community in Prayer
Leading a Community in Prayer was compiled to support lay prayer leaders, wardens, those involved in communal education and interested members of congregations as they begin to use the 2008 Siddur, Forms of Prayer.
A glance at the contents page will show that it is much more than a ‘find your way around the 2008 edition’! It was conceived as an opportunity to learn more about the development of our liturgy, from ancient to modern times, to understand that which is specifically Reform practice, as well as help prayer leaders to make choices in the planning of a Shabbat morning service.
Perhaps your community would find it interesting to consider the role of the Sh'liach Tsibbur (Prayer Leader), or to explore some texts on the nature of prayer and comments from some of the Rabbis of the Movement for Reform Judaism? Or you would like help with the details of t’fillah planning?
You will find all this and more in this booklet. We hope you enjoy using it and that it enhances your experience of using our wonderful new Siddur.

T'fillah Planning Sheets
There are many types of Shabbat Shacharit service which one can plan using this Siddur. There are also many ways in which a person will go about preparing the service. These will be influenced by different requirements from the synagogue or the specific type of service which is being prepared.
We are therefore including a number of T’fillah Planning Sheets, so that you can choose one which is most appropriate for you, or adapt the one to suit your service and/or community.
